Seventeen-year-old Mahaveer Raghunathan has been confirmed as part of Koiranen GP‘s line-up to compete in this season’s GP3 Series.
Raghunathan has spent the past four seasons gaining single seater experience under his belt, with his journey starting back in 2012 by testing Formula BMW – from here he went on to take part in the MRF Challenge before joining the Italian Formula 4 Championship in 2014 and competed in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship and EuroFormula Open last year.
Raghunathan commented: “I am extremely excited to drive with Koiranen GP this year in GP3.
“Koiranen GP is a very strong team with good results in the Series and I hope to learn a lot from their experience and give my best performance in my rookie year”
The Indian, who is actually the first driver to represent his country in GP3, tested with Campos Racing and Trident Motorsport in the post-season test days in Abu Dhabi before making his first appearance for Koiranen in the recent shakedown for the new GP/16 at Magny-Cours earlier this month.
Alongside his new team-mates, Matthew Parry and Matevos Isaakyan, Raghunathan will have the opportunity to jump into the car as the first official test kicks off next week in Estoril, Portugal from 22-24 March.
